Accepting Imperfection

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

— Romans 3:23

Perfect Father,

I often seek perfection: in my work, my appearance, my relationships. This exhausting quest makes me anxious and never satisfied.

Help me accept imperfection. Mine first: I am human, therefore imperfect by nature. That of others next: they are human too. Imperfection is not failure but a characteristic of our condition.

May I aim for excellence without demanding perfection. Do my best without torturing myself over every flaw. Imperfection can be beautiful, authentic, touching.

Amen.

Reflection

Where do you demand perfection of yourself or others? How could you make peace with imperfection?

For all perfectionists who suffer from never being enough.
