Righteous Anger

"In your anger do not sin."

— Ephesians 4:26

Lord,

I was taught that anger was bad, that I should always be calm and accommodating. But sometimes, facing injustice, abuse, indifference, I feel a legitimate anger rising in me.

Teach me to welcome this healthy anger that says no to what is unacceptable. Not destructive rage, but that indignation which mobilizes, which pushes to action, which defends what is right.

May my anger not consume me but give me the energy to change what needs to be changed. May I express it healthily, without violence, in service of good and justice.

Amen.

Reflection

What injustice makes you angry? This anger can be a motor for action. How could you channel it constructively?

For those who repress their legitimate anger and for those consumed by rage.
