Appreciating the Present Moment
"This is the day the Lord has made."
— Psalm 118:24
Lord of the present,
I often live in the past or the future, rarely in the present. Yet the present moment is all I really have. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow doesn't exist yet.
Teach me to fully live the present moment. To be here and now, in what I do, with whom I am. To savor each instant rather than pass through it thinking about something else.
May I taste life in the moment: the flavor of what I eat, the sensations of my body, the presence of those I love. Life is lived in the present.
Amen.

Reflection
Practice mindfulness today: several times during the day, stop and ask yourself where your attention really is.
For all those who miss their lives by always being elsewhere.
